Great dermatologist!

Dr. Dhingra is great, funny, and charismatic. He thoroughly answered all of my questions and gave a treatment plan which was easy to follow. I really felt great after leaving his office because I had more knowledge of the scope of issue and how to better treat it, and ultimately how to avoid it. His support staff was also amazing and kind, and made my visit very valuable.

Dermatologist (Primary)

A dermatologist is a medical provider who diagnoses and treats disorders of the skin and associated body parts, such as hair and nails. A patient may see a dermatologist because of cosmetic insecurities, unusual moles or discolorations, severe acne, or other skin concerns. Though many primary care physicians treat minor skin issues, the expertise of a dermatologist is often preferred as they are more likely to be up-to-date on treatments, technology, and information regarding your specific concern and can provide patients with a greater number of treatment options.

Resident

A resident physician is a doctor who has completed medical school and is training to specialize in a specific area of medicine, such as surgery, pediatrics, or oncology. This three to seven year period of postgraduate training is supervised by attending physicians. After completing a residency, doctors take examinations to qualify for specialist board certification. Residents are licensed medical doctors with the appropriate degree and license to practice, but they report to a board certified "attending" doctor. While they cannot admit patients, they can play a key role in providing care.

CareDash updates insurance information from a variety of sources including:

  • National resources such as Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO) from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)

  • Office managers for the provider

  • Third-party partners that represent the provider to CareDash

This section shows the financial relationships between doctors and pharmaceutical and medical device companies.

The U.S. government collects extensive records about these relationships. Some examples include:

  • Consulting fees that companies pay to doctors, to get their input about their products and research
  • Companies paying doctors to speak about their products at conferences
  • Companies taking doctors out to dinner to tell them about a new drug or medical device
  • Companies paying for travel, hotel rooms, and food at medical conferences

The U.S. government collects and publishes these records due to concerns about conflicts of interest. However, CareDash does not believe that these transfers of value necessarily mean a doctor is ethically compromised. Eating sponsored food at conferences and speaking on behalf of pharmaceutical companies are not the same thing. Further, we believe that there are doctors who have success with companies' products, get paid to speak about them, and are still foremost devoted to successful patient outcomes.

Therefore, in addition to showing the payments information, we provide some context, such as the median amount for doctors of that specialty, to help users assess potential conflicts of interest. We encourage users to discuss this information with their doctors.

Data in this section is calculated using Open Payments data, collected by Medicare as part of the Affordable Care Act. This data contains detailed records about payments and other transfers of value from pharmaceutical and medical device companies to doctors.

Although the Open Payments program is administered by Medicare, it covers almost all doctors in the United States, including those who do not accept Medicare insurance.

What do you really know about herpes?

Having been around for millions of years, herpes is often time misunderstood and mistreated.

In a survey of 1,000 Americans, 85% believe there is a negative stigma around STI making it difficult to discuss. The same group of people was tested on their basic knowledge surrounding herpes and less than a third of the respondents scored perfectly. Over 50% of the people surveyed say they would walk away and not have any intimate interaction with someone with herpes.

Did you know...?
◾️ Herpes can oftentimes go untreated due to embarrassment.
◾️ 1 in 6 women have the virus and many don't know it.
◾️ Women are also twice as likely to have genital herpes compared to men.
◾️ Herpes can't be cured, however, it can be treated.

We want to bring awareness and educate those who are unfamiliar with this virus.

What causes herpes and how is it spread?
Herpes is caused by two viruses, herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and type 2 (HSV-2). You can get genital herpes by having vaginal, anal, or oral sex with someone who has the disease. The STI can spread through a herpes sore, saliva, or genital secretions. The illness can also spread through the skin in the oral area if your partner has an oral herpes infection or skin in the genital area if your partner has a genital herpes infection.

How can you reduce the risk of getting herpes?
To avoid STDs is to not have vaginal, anal, or oral sex. And if you are sexually active, use protection, although condoms aren't 100% effective.

Educate yourself on the issue, it's important to have that conversation with your partner, and if you have it, seek treatment.

Joy Of Dancing 1st Week

At Mount Sinai, our mission is to provide exceptional patient care. To help patients feel more confident about their choice of doctors, we provide patient experience star ratings based on information collected by an independent organization, Press Ganey, which surveys hundreds of thousands of our patients every year. We hope this information will help you choose the doctor that is right for you.

What is the “Patient Experience Star Rating?”
The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai physician communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on the Clinician & Group CAHPS (CG-CAHPS) Survey, a standardized questionnaire developed for use by Medicare:

  • During this visit, did this provider explain things in a way that was easy to understand?
  • During this visit, did this provider listen carefully to you?
  • Would you recommend this provider’s office to your family and friends?

Who receives a CG-CAHPS patient survey?
Patients are randomly selected to receive a survey, either via mail or email, in which they are asked to provide feedback about their experience. That feedback is shared with physicians and medical practice leaders to help us improve and to recognize exceptional physicians.

How is the rating calculated?
The star rating is calculated using the industry standard methodology to ensure validity and reliability.
