Skid Factory Foxbody Mustang with a Turbo Barra Inline-Six

Al from Skid Factory and Benny from Benny’s Custom Works combined talents to build a Foxbody Mustang for Hot Rod Drag Week 2019. Their formula starts with a turbocharged Barra inline-six sitting on a UPR tubular K-member. They back that up with Hughes Performance’s TH400 automatic transmission and billet Pro SSX torque converter. Watch the team build the Mustang below.

Once the four-pot was flung, Jason and his crew wasted no time making some prototype engine mounts and slotting in an FG-era Barra, backed by a BTR four-speed auto. The big six fits like a glove, without any need for cutting and lots of room for aftermarket turbos and big dump pipes.

The crew then fitted a Plazmaman retro intake - designed to work in early Falcon engine bays, Plazmaman throttle body and Haltech Elite 2500 ECU. They've also fitted an LMR tubular K-member up front, 9-inch diff out the back, Aerospace Components stoppers and Weld rims all 'round.

The tubular front end is a common Fox-body mod and should free up some real estate for turbocharger and dump pipe upgrades, but the Tuff Mounts kit will work with both factory and aftermarket front ends. Jason hopes to run into the nine-second range down the quarter-mile at Street Machine Drag Challenge 2019, and possibly Hot Rod Drag Week in America after that. BARRA CONVERSION KIT to suit FORD MUSTANG Fox Body 1978-1993

This kit will allow the Aussie Ford 4.0L Barra engine to be installed into the FORD MUSTANG Fox Body Platform

This Conversion Kit includes:
– Tuff Mounts Motor Mounts
– Tuff Mounts Trans mount
– Tubular Transmission X-Member
– Spacers Bolt Kit and step by step instructions.
– Modified Oil Pan to suit the Conversion will be an optional extra, or choose the DIY sump kit and modify your existing Oil pan.

This conversion kit has been designed to suit either OEM K Member or Tubular K member, Best suited to Manual Steering Rack, However Power Steering can be used but with Tighter clearances.

We suggest the use of the FG Ford 4.0L Engine and Oil Pan. If using a BA/BF Engine the Oil Dipstick will not be able to be used. A custom provision will be required to be made to suit the Oil Pan.

An aftermarket Intake Manifold will need to be used, We suggest the Plazmaman Retro Intake. The OEM Factory Barra Turbo Manifold and Turbo fit without modification to car.

Either a Manual Brake Master Cylinder or a Hydraboost setup will be required to give adequate clearance for Intake Manifold.
